Lisa Moorish has been immersed in music her entire life. At seven, she knew she wanted to sing and was introduced to live gigs by her mum’s partner, a lighting technician for Steel Pulse. At 12, she toured the U.S. with the band while they supported Herbie Hancock. At 16, she recorded her first club hit, Rock To The Beat, with Detroit techno pioneers Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, followed by Going Back To My Roots, produced by Paul Weller and Mick Talbot. In the early ‘90s, she signed with Polydor as Lisa M, later achieving UK Top 40 success with Mr Friday Night and a duet with George Michael, I’m Your Man. During Britpop, she provided backing vocals for Oasis, Blur, and Ash before forming electro-punk band Kill City, signed by Alan McGee’s Poptones. Recently, Lisa has returned to songwriting, teaming up with producer Zoe Devlin Love and signing to Irvine Welsh’s Jack Said What label. She has co-written songs for Trainspotting: The Musical and crafted a diverse new album drawing comparisons to Grace Jones, Roisin Murphy, and Nina Hagen, featuring tracks like This Chaos Is Divine and Social Pariah, blending torch songs, electro, and raw lyrical storytelling.
